Should Islamic Countries Unite?

In recent days, ASSAM Congress series is the basis of the "Mahdi" debate, which has been criticized and subsequently denied, allegedly the statements of Adnan Tanrıverdi the Chief Advisor of the President. The main purpose of this congress series is to provide cooperation between Islamic countries in economic, social, military and administrative fields.

Turkey is seen as a model country in our discussions with those who attended these congresses (mostly academicians and non-governmental organization managers and members) who attended these congresses, also for the first two congresses, I took part in the organizing board, but it is worth noticing that the participants in these congresses were not the administrators of Islamic countries. The reason why I emphasize this point is to explain that the administrators and politicians in Islamic countries think differently than the public. Today, the administrators of Islamic countries have turned their countries into puppets of the imperialist states with these thoughts and the policies they implement, and they continue to harm the Muslims of other countries, especially their own people.

Throughout history, imperialist states, including the Crusades, have developed policies that prevent Islamic countries from getting stronger, coming together, acting together and separating Islamic countries. They tried to do with weapons what they could not do with politics, attacked Islamic countries by uniting without considering the sectarian differences among themselves, establishing joint armies, or by using internal differences, they dominated by creating chaos and disorder. They continued to exploit Islamic countries economically and culturally.

What will be done in this situation? What should be done? Answers to be given to these questions; either to accept everything and become a puppet of the imperialist states or to act together and to cooperate. However, can Islamic countries act together with the different approaches of today's international politics and governments of Islamic countries? or will Islamic countries unite? makes the answer to these questions, negative.

Today, the Islamic geography is bleeding. All of the conflicts take place in the Islamic geography. What needs to be done to prevent these is to ensure that all Islamic countries act together without considering political and economic ambitions. I think it is best to embrace, find the way and method of acting together in political, economic, military and social fields by accepting sectarian differences such as Alevi-Sunni, Shia-Sunni and ethnic differences in the Islamic geography as wealth and acting from the idea that Islam is not a monopoly of any sect or ethnic group.

I think that the starting point of ASSAM Congresses is to determine how the Islamic countries will act together, then to cooperate in the economic, military and political fields or to determine whether union can be formed or not, and to prepare a ground for this. In the congresses, first, the management systems of Islamic countries were examined, then economic issues were discussed and “what could be done” was discoursed. Defense industry issues were discussed in the last congress.

It is worth noting that this issue is not only the duty of ASSAM, but it is a necessity for all Muslims to unite under this thought. All segments of the society related to this issue should explain and discuss their opinions on the democratic ground without hurting or insulting each other.
