Chief Advisor of President, Adnan Tanrıverdi: - 'Palestine has no tanks, no guns, no aircraft, no armored vehicles. But Israel has tanks, guns, jet fighters and ships, and the bombs from them fall on the Palestinians more or less every day. So, if you want to stop a persecution, we have to put the power to balance against the power they have'.

The conference on "International Israeli Ethnic Discrimination Conference: Dimensions, Practices and Methods of Combating" organized by the International Organization for Combating Racism and Ethnic Discrimination and the Union of Non-Governmental Organizations of the Islamic World (UNIW) started.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Adnan Tanrıverdi the Chief Advisor of President said that Jerusalem is a place considered sacred by three heavenly religions and that it has become a battlefield because of Israel.

Emphasizing that it is not possible for the Islamic world to give up Jerusalem, Tanrıverdi claimed that the Christian Western world supported Israel.

Noting that Israel rules 85 percent of the Palestinian territories, Tanrıverdi said:

"Palestine has no tanks, no guns, no aircraft, no armored vehicles. But Israel has tanks, guns, jet fighters and ships, and the bombs from them fall on the Palestinians more or less every day. So, if you want to stop a persecution, we have to put the power to balance against the power they have. If we cannot put this power against Israel, this persecution will continue. We can put forward the legal reasons for this. The West has not done this until now, and they will not do it from now on. So, the Islamic world should organize an army for Palestine outside of Palestine. Israel should know that if they throw a bomb there, a bomb will fall in Tel Aviv. When Israel realizes this, then it can only give up this persecution."

Adnan Tanrıverdi stated that Palestine was also economically isolated, and that an economic fund should be established by the Islamic world and Palestine should be supported with this fund.

UNIW President Ali Kurt stated that Israel's racism was registered with the "Jewish Nation State" law and said that Israel behaved in this way thanks to the USA and some Arab states.

Stating that they wanted to draw the attention of the international community to Palestine with this conference they organized, Kurt called on the whole world to take a stand against Israel's racist policies.

Rima Khalaf, the President of the International Organization for the Fight Against Racism and Ethnic Discrimination, explained that the reason why Israel is racist is due to the support from some states, and said that, as required by the law, everyone should fight against a racial discrimination state.

Khalaf emphasized that not only can there be a state that is unique to religions such as Muslim, Catholic and Hindu, but also a state unique to Jews cannot be accepted. Also she said, "Israel does not want to abide by moral rules and laws. I hope as a result of this conference we will form an international alliance against Israel."

Atallah Hanna, Archbishop of Jerusalem Greek Orthodox Church Sebastia, also explained the need to act together against racism of Israel, and said that Christians also experience the same problems Muslims experience.

Calling out to Christians around the world, Hanna said, "Support the resistance by showing solidarity with Palestine and Jerusalem. If those who celebrate the birth of Jesus really want to celebrate, they need to see the place where Jesus was born and see how persecution was committed. We will continue our struggle against Zionism for Palestine."

The conference, which will continue tomorrow, is organized to inform the international public about the realities of the "Israeli Apartheid" regime, to develop current research and documentation efforts, to hold the Israeli racist regime to account within the framework of international law, and to contribute to the development of official, legal and civil initiatives.
