{"id":4934,"date":"2021-03-23T07:05:06","date_gmt":"2021-03-23T04:05:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/yeni.assam.org.tr\/index.php\/2021\/03\/23\/istanbul-sozlesmesi-feshi-ve-destek-aciklamamiz-en\/"},"modified":"2021-03-23T07:05:06","modified_gmt":"2021-03-23T04:05:06","slug":"istanbul-sozlesmesi-feshi-ve-destek-aciklamamiz-en","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/assam.org.tr\/en\/istanbul-sozlesmesi-feshi-ve-destek-aciklamamiz-en\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Statement on Abolishment of the Istanbul Convention and Support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-4931\" src=\"https:\/\/assam.org.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/7bc8cb8699a452430e95a37b47c70175.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\"><strong>The President&#8217;s decision to abolish the 19 March 2021 Istanbul Convention, published in the Official Gazette dated 20 March 2021 and numbered 31429:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>&#8220;The abolishment of the Council of Europe Convention on the Prevention and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, signed on 11\/5\/2011 on behalf of the Republic of Turkey and approved by the Council of Ministers Resolution no. 2012\/2816 dated 10\/02\/2012, has been decided in accordance with Article 3 of the Presidential Decree No. 9&#8221;.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #000000;\">The decision was explained by our Vice President with the words.\u00a0 \u201cThe solution is present in our traditions and customs, fundamentally&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #000000;\">President of the Presidency of Communications Fahrettin Altun also expressed the intention behind the decision by saying in his public information speech;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>\u201cFrom yesterday until today, we have been resolutely continuing our struggle under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan for women to participate more in social, economic, political and cultural life. Women are not object but subject of life! We will always say &#8216;STRONG WOMAN, STRONG TURKEY'&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>As ASSAM, we support our President with our respect and fondness.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #000000;\">Because, as we were the first country to sign the Istanbul Convention <em>(Council of Europe Convention)<\/em> with the belief that Turkish women will be valued and prevent them from being exposed to violence, we have seen that violence against Turkish women continues to increase and the family will be dispersed, and we have become the first country to abolish the Council of Europe Convention.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif; color: #000000;\"><strong>\u201cMen dominate women.
