Kıbrıs’ın Jeopolitik Konumu: Kıbrıs, tarih boyunca Orta Doğuya açılmak isteyen devletler için, vazgeçilmez stratejik ve ticari bir üs olarak görülmüştür. Ada, etrafını saran bölgelere ‘bölgesel ve stratejik güç’ olma yolunda bir açılım sağlar.

Coğrafi konumu göz önüne alınarak, İskenderun Körfezi’ne doğru uzanan bir uçak gemisine benzetilen Ada, her dönem stratejik önem ve özelliğini korumuştur. Adayı elinde bulunduran güç, her zaman Türkiye’den Mısır’a, Lübnan’dan, İran’a kadar olan bölgeyi kontrol etmiştir.

Soğuk savaşın sona erdiği 1990 yılından sonra POTUS Jeorge W.Bush tarafından haçlı seferleri başlatılarak Irak, arkasından 2001’de Afganistan işgal edilmiştir. Fakat bu işgaller hem maddi hem de askeri kayıplara neden olduğu için batı kamuoyunda itirazlara neden olmuştur. Ünlü teorisyen Graham E. Fuller ki bu şahıs Amerikan RAND Corporation düşünce kuruluşunun daimi politik Danışmanı ABD Merkezi Haber alma Teşkilatı'nın Milli Haber alma Konseyi eski başkan yardımcısı yazar Amerikalı devlet görevlisi tarafından ileri sürülen ‘Medeniyet İçi Çatışma’ tezi İslam dünyasındaki iki fay hattı olan milliyetçilik ve mezhepçilik üzerinden hayata geçirilmiştir. Bizzat batının kurup finanse ettiği terör örgütleri İslam coğrafyasının yeni işgal vasıtaları olarak vekâlet savaşında kullanılmıştır.

Malumdur ki; Jeopolitik kavramlar ve teoriler hep üretilmiştir. Bu zamana kadar jeopolitiğin tanımıyla ilgilenen bilim adamları şu dört kelimeyi hep kullanmışlardır. Medeniyet, devlet, siyaset ve coğrafya. Özellikle dünya hâkimiyet mücadelesi şeklinde gerçekleşen 1. ve 2.Dünya savaşlarının jeopolitik teorilerin etkisinde kaldığını söyleyebiliriz.

1. Dünya savaşı; Osmanlı–Batı ekseninde Siyonizm’in tarif ettiği yolu,
2. Dünya savaşı ise perde arkasında Siyonizm’le birlikte Londra-Paris-Berlin-Moskova hattını yani ‘Kara Hâkimiyet Teorisine’ ait yolu izlemiştir.
